1924 Imperial Tobacco Birds of Canada #48
Condition: MySlabs E (poor/fair)
Description
For your consideration is an original 1924 cigarette card issued by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada, Limited. This card is No. 48 from the iconic "Birds of Canada" (Series of 100) and features the American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos). These cards were originally included as protective "stiffeners" in cigarette packs and have become highly sought-after pieces of Canadian tobacco ephemera. Card Text & Education The reverse of the card provides a fascinating glimpse into 1920s wildlife perspectives: Description: Details the crow's adaptation to civilization and its diet, noting it destroys harmful insects like cutworms but also damages corn crops. Conservation Message: Boldly states: "Birds destroy insects that are harmful to our forests and crops". Condition Report - [HIGHLY FRAGILE] Overall: This card is in Poor/Authentic condition and is considered super fragile. Integrity: The paper stock is heavily wrinkled and creased throughout. Wear: Significant softening of the card stock and heavy rounding/wear to all corners and edges. Note: While heavily weathered, the card remains fully intact with all text on the reverse clearly legible. This is an ideal "filler" card for a collector or a great piece for someone who appreciates the "well-loved" vintage look. Shipping & Handling Security: Because of its fragile nature, this card will NOT be shipped in a plain envelope. It will be placed in a rigid protective sleeve (top-loader) and shipped in a sturdy bubble mailer
